Prasat Sikhoraphum

Prasat Sikhoraphum

Located in a tranquil environment in Surin Province, this Hindu temple was built in the 12th century and dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. It features 5 Hindi –style stupas all built on a raised floor base. The central stupa has beautifully decorated carvings over its entrance and along the door frame. It is also the tallest.

At the entrance to the central Stupa.

In the 16th century, it was renovated and converted into a Buddhist temple.

The art and religion blend is top-notch.

The breathtaking view from the parking lot.

This monument stands tall and in a beautiful contrast with greenery surrounding. There are not many Khmer temples in the North-eastern region. In case you happen to visit the area, it is a nice place to stop by.
